hello
artist's story
Olive Cheng is an experienced Perth based artist who works across the media of public art murals and pyrography (wood burning).

Olive Cheng’s role as an artist is underpinned by her training as a landscape architect. She holds a Bachelor of Design from UWA and has experience in working on public art projects across rural and urban WA.
Olive is also a qualified primary school teacher, with a Masters of Teaching from UWA and over half a decade of classroom experience, and together uses her background professions in both design and education to now pursue projects as a full time independent artist. She loves working with communities as an artist and public mural painter. She designs and installs a range of artworks.

Olive’s public art style typically depicts nature and Australian botanicals. She draws directly from the natural world around her, celebrating Australia’s diverse and unique flora in bold, joyful and whimsical designs.

Olive’s public artwork - both bespoke pyrographed collections and wall murals - have been acquired extensively throughout Perth by The City of Vincent, City of Stirling, City of Joondalup City of South Perth, City of Swan, Vincent Local History Centre Collection, Beatty Park Leisure Centre, and Bethesda Private Hospital, amongst numerous other private collectors and clients.
