art teacher
In my education career I have relished teaching art in the primary classroom. I have also coordinated a number of extra curricular art classes, mainly EnviroArt and coordinated community art projects and 'mini public art' installations throughout the school.
Starfish
Salt dough starfish created in response to a beach-themed term. Non-fiction focus text of the week was on Starfish.
Mother's Day Brooches
To integrate our learning across the curriculum and our term topic on bears, we painted bear portraits and created stylish brooches from the images. These were very well received by our mums!
Red Fuji Recreations
Inspired by Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints, these painted recreations became the central subjects for Chistmas gifts for families.
The Heart of Doubleview
This grand piece was an early collaboration with Miss Monte and Pre Primary students to celebrate the opening of our new school. Exploring a sense of place and identity in our school suburb, each child contributed a mixed-media drawing which became the fabric of our Doubleview map art. This piece now resides in the school administration block and greets visitors to our school.
The Great Wave Recreations
Inspired by Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints, this famous image of Hokusai's Great Wave was integrated with our unit on water in Term 4.
Banksia Paper Blocks
Based on botanical studies of local flora in the school area, these Banksia paper collage pieces became Mothers Day gift block magnets.
Chinese Calligraphy in PP
Children explore the fluid and elegant movement of painting and calligraphy in our class creative space.
Mona Lisa Study

Indigenous Story Rocks
NAIDOC Week lent itself to Indigenous immersion across the curriculum. These story stones are based on the beautiful storybook The Little Bird's Day.
Class Travelling Sketchbook
Celebrations of Chinese New Year lead this class to participate in the Travelling Sketchbook Exhibition. Each student in the class contributed thoughts on Chinese New Year and their zodiac sign. Our class sketchbook was part of collection of hundred Sketchbooks which travelled around the state for exhibition in different libraries and public spaces.
Our School Bush Tucker Garden Entry
Together with some representatives from each junior primary yeargroup, students from our school were guided to create this collaborative entry to the Win A School Bush Tucker Garden competition. We created a mixed-media artist impression of our dream bush tucker garden outside the school administration. We were inspired by the 6 Nyoongar Seasons.
Frida Kahlo Self Portraits
Frida Kahlo inspired self portraits on paper.
Tomato Soup
As part of our Pop Art study, we recreated the very famous Tomato Soup series by Andy Warhol.
